YMCA Team Idaho, of Boise, wins boys’ sprint medley relay at 2015 Simplot Games
Team comes from behind to take first
 
Pocatello, Idaho – YMCA Team Idaho, of Boise, wins the boys sprint medley relay at 2015 Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho, with a time of 3:32.53.
 
Nick Ross, senior, Cory Mullanix, junior, Jeffrey Johnson, senior, and Michael Slagowski, junior, came from behind in the final lap to take first.
 
“We had some rough hand offs, and were sliding everywhere, but were still in good position,” said Slagowski. “I tried to get good splits in the last leg to help us take first.”
 
The sprint medley is composted of two 200-meter legs, one 400-meter leg, and an 800-meter leg at the end. Ross and Mullanix ran the 200 meters, Johnson ran the 400 meters, and Slagowski ran the last leg.
 
 
More than 2,000 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia to participate in the 37th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
