TOP WEIGHT THROWERS AWARDED FIRST MEDALS OF 2024 SIMPLOT GAMES

Pocatello, Idaho – The first medals of the 44th Simplot Games were awarded to the Girls’ and Boys’ weight throwing champions. Jacob Lozano and Ronan Gallagher of Golden State Throwing Club (Sacramento, CA) took home top honors.

Gallagher, the top girl thrower in the country, commented on what it took to propel her to the top of the podium. “I feel wonderful, and I’ve trained really hard and worked with my coaches for this,” said Ronan. “I got second place last year, so I came back hungry for the win!”

Lozano earned top honors with a throw of 69’4.25”. “It feels great to be here competing,” said Lozano. “It’s amazing to see how far I’ve come since last year.”

Nearly 2,200 athletes from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia are participating in the 44th Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s ICCU Dome in Pocatello, Idaho.
