Ric Rojas Running from Broomfield, Colo., placed first in the girls’ 4×800 relay at the 2017 Simplot Games

 

Pocatello, Idaho – Ric Rojas Running from Broomfield, Colo., placed first in the girls’ 4×800 relay at the 2017 Simplot Games with a time of 9:39.58.

 

The team consists of Shannon King, freshman, first leg, Emily Gallegos-Franklin, senior, second leg, Marlena Preigh, sophomore, third leg and Hannah Freeman, senior, anchor.

 

“It was nice coming in as a freshman and being part of a strong team,” said King. “Everyone’s just so encouraging.”

 

More than 2,200 athletes came from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 39th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
