Pocatello, Idaho – Rachel Rosin, grade 12, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, won the girls 200-meter dash at the 2015 Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho.
Rosin’s winning time of 24:67 was a full second better than her personal record, which she set in yesterday’s preliminary race.
“I felt really good,” said Rosin, who plans to run track and study kinesiology at university next year.
This is her second Simplot Games appearance and last year she was the only competitor to come to the Games from her Canadian club; this year she was one of four.
“I love coming to this meet,” she said. “The atmosphere is so nice and all of the competitors are so welcoming.”
In particular, she likes running on Holt Arena’s 200-meter wood-banked track. “I like the tighter corners and I always feel really fast on this track.”
More than 2,000 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia to participate in the 37th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
