Montana athletes qualify for Saturday finals at 2016 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – Athletes from Montana qualified for 14 of 34 events in the preliminary competition at the 2016 Simplot Games. Although every athlete gave it their all, there were several performances that stood out.
Some of the most exciting performances include:

  • Jake Perrin, a senior from Lakeside, and Aidan Reed, a senior from Helena, qualified within one second of each other for Saturday’s finals. Perrin and Reed placed first and second in the 2015 Montana Cross Country State Championships. Both are battling to come out on top at tomorrow’s Simplot Games finals.
  • Rachael McGree, a senior from Butte, qualified for both the girls’ 60-meter hurdles and girls’ long jump. McGree looks to take home the gold in both.

All events on Saturday are finals, with championship heats beginning at 12:15 p.m., at Holt Arena. A full list of Montana athletes who qualified is listed below.
More than 2,100 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 38th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
