Pocatello, Idaho – Miguel Molas, a senior from Colorado Springs, won the boys’ 60-meter dash with a time of 6.91 seconds at the 2015 Simplot Games. The 60-meter dash was extremely close this year with second and third place finishing within three hundredths of a second behind Molas.
While Molas, who represents Speed Track Club, did not break his personal record of 6.83, Molas was happy with his performance, especially after becoming sick the night before preliminaries.
“I had been throwing up all night. After that, I just wanted to qualify,” he said, “I wasn’t expecting to win.”
Molas was very excited to attend Simplot Games and looks forward to attending the Air Force Academy in the fall.
More than 2,000 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia to participate in the 37th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
