Pocatello, Idaho – Jasmyne Graham, senior, and Joseph Anderson, sophomore, won the girls’ and boys’ 60-meter dashes at Simplot Games 2015. Both athletes represent Academy of Speed Track Club out of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and set personal records this weekend.

Graham won the girls’ 60 meters with an impressive time of 8.41 seconds, which is currently the second fastest time in the nation. Graham had an impressive weekend setting two personal records as a first-timer at Simplot Games, while also competing for the first time in the 60-meter distance.

“At the start of the race, I knew I had to have control.” She said, “I didn’t want to play catch up, and I just felt really focused coming in.”

Graham feels very excited and overwhelmed to have made such a high national ranking. She looks forward to competing for the University of Southern California in the fall.

Anderson, also a first timer at Simplot Games, won the boys’ 60 meters with a time of 7.94.

“I was happy because I wanted to go 7.9 or lower,” he said. “I just knew I wanted to pull away and that I was going to get first when I crossed the last two hurdles.”
