Jace Jensen, from Bountiful, Utah, Wins Boys’ 400-Meter Run at 2018 Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho – Jace Jensen, a junior from Bountiful, Utah, took first in the boys’ 400-meter run at the 2018 Simplot Games with a time of 48.77.

“At first, I was unsure about running in lane six on the outside of the track, but it turned out to be pretty fun,” Jensen said.

This was Jensen’s first year at the Simplot Games and the time he recorded was a personal record for him. He grew up playing soccer so he said long distance sprinting is something he enjoys.

“I plan on being back here next year, and I will be working for a 47.0,” Jensen said.

More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
