Distance puts him at #3 in the nation Pocatello, Idaho – Greg Vann, senior from Camarillo, Calif. wins boys’ long jump at 2015 Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho with distance of 24’3.75”. Vann is now number three in the U.S. this year.
“It felt good to win,” Vann said. “It feels good to be one of the best. I wasn’t expecting to win but was happy I got it.”
Mike Powell, long jump world record holder and one of Vann’s idols was in attendance during his jump.
“It was a great feeling to have Mike Powell watching me jump,” Vann said.
Vann won the California indoor title in the long jump on Monday with the distance of 23 feet.
More than 2,000 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia to participate in the 37th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
