Gold Medal Athletics, from Lehi, Utah, wins the Boys Sprint Medley Relay in 2017 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – Gold Metal Athletics, from Lehi, Utah, won the boys’ sprint medley relay at the 2017 Simplot Games.
Juniors Turner Koyle and Brandon Williams and seniors Mark Rockwood and Gabe Stock ran the medley relay in 3:37.10, earning them the top spot on the podium. The medley relay includes legs of 400, 200, 200 and 800 meters.
“We always just tell ourselves it is a day-by-day process,” Williams said.
The athletes are all from various Utah schools and will begin their transition into the outdoor track season after Simplot Games. Seniors Rockwood and Stock both have hopes to attend college and continue their track careers.
More than 2,200 athletes came from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 39th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
