Ethan Ruh, a senior from Omaha, Neb., won the boys’ shot put at the 2016 Simplot Games beating his personal record by nine inches Pocatello, Idaho – Ethan Ruh, a senior from Omaha, Neb., won the boys’ shot put at the 2016 Simplot Games with the mark 59’10”. This distance beats his previous personal record by nine inches.

“I was really pumped to get my personal best,” Ruh said. “I was jumping up and down and yelling. It felt really good.”
Ruh came to the 2015 Simplot Games, but placed sixth. This year he was excited to come back and have another shot.
“I knew I could do it,” Ruh said. “I was excited to come back and compete against these guys again.”
Ruh will graduate in the spring, and head to Dartmouth to compete. He also competes in the weight throw, hammer and discus.
More than 2,100 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 38th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
