Davis Track Club, of Layton, Utah, cleans house in the 4×800-meter relays at the 2016 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – The Davis Track Club boys and girls’ 4×800-meter relay teams both won their events at the 2016 Simplot Games in Pocatello.
The boys relay team consisted of Frasier Williamson, 11, on the first leg, Bryce Ferguson, 12, on the second leg, Jason Lang, on the third, and Colter Blanchard, 12, as the anchor. They finished with the time of 8:05.40, making them the champion in this event for the third year in a row.
“I think it is special that we have one three years in a row,” Blanchard said. “It shows what our coaches do and how they develop kids.”
The girls’ team consisted of Aubrey Argyle, 11, on the first leg, Alicia Halverson, 10, on the second leg, Jenna Connel, 11, on the third leg, and Ally Geisler, 11, as the anchor. They finished with the time of 9:40.91.
Davis Track Club brought over 160 athletes to the Games this year.
More than 2,100 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 38th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
