Dallin Draper, from Delta, Utah, Wins Boys’ 60-Meter and 200-Meter dashes in the 2018 Simplot Games
60-meter dash time is second fastest in the U.S. this year
Pocatello, Idaho – Dallin Draper, a senior from Delta, Utah, won both the boys’ 60-meter and 200-meter dashes at the 2018 Simplot Games. His 60-meter time was 6.76 seconds and his 200-meter time was 21.61 seconds.
At the 2017 Simplot Games, Draper placed first in the 60-meter dash and fifth in the 200 meters. This year, he shaved 0.1 seconds off his 60-meter time. His time is the second fastest 60-meter time in the nation this year.
“I am really excited that my time improved from last year,” Draper said. “Over the past year I trained a lot smarter and that showed today.”
Draper drives an hour and a half each day for track practice and said that it allows him to get the right mindset about his commitment to his sport. After graduating, Draper plans to go on an LDS mission before attending Brigham Young University on a track and field scholarship.
“This is my favorite meet ever,” he said. “I love the track because it’s so different and I love the atmosphere because it’s so uplifting.”
He placed fifth last year in the 200 meters.
More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R.
