Chase Smith from Helena, Mont., wins boys’ pole vault at 2015 Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho – Chase Smith, a senior from Helena, Mont., won the boys’ pole vault in his second appearance at Simplot Games with a 15’ vault. Coming in to today’s finals, Smith, whose personal record is 15’4”, said he felt warm and ready. “I really wanted to go 16’,” Smith said. “But it was a near miss.” Smith has competed at the Games before and loves the atmosphere. “There is so much support from the crowd for every event,” he said. “It’s just always a really great time.” More than 2,000 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia to participate in the 37th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R.
