Celeste Mucci, a junior from Melbourne, Australia, won the girls’ high jump at the 2016 Simplot Games Pocatello, Idaho – Celeste Mucci, a junior from Melbourne, Australia, won the girls’ high jump at the 2016 Simplot Games with the distance of 5’7” (1.7018 meters). This is the second year in a row she placed first in the high jump.

Mucci also placed sixth in the girls’ long jump and second in the girls’ 60-meter hurdles.
“The jump felt good,” said Mucci. “I was jumping on a different surface than usual, which felt funny. But the bigger crowd here definitely helps.”
This is Mucci’s second year at Simplot Games. Last year she finished second in the girls’ 60-meter hurdles and sixth in the long jump as well.
“I like coming to Simplot Games,” Mucci said. “We get the chance to compete against different people and it is a great atmosphere.
More than 2,100 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 38th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
