Pocatello, Idaho – Brie Oakley, a senior from Centennial, Colo., won the girls’ 1600 meters at the 2017 Simplot Games with a time of 4:48.53.

This was Oakley’s first race of the indoor season, and she felt good about her time.

“I wanted to break the record, but it’s still early in the season and I am proud of how I did,” Oakley said. “It was a great race.”

This was also her first time competing at Simplot Games, and she loved the atmosphere.

More than 2,200 athletes came from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 39th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
