Emmons competed at the 2015 Simplot Games, but did not make it to finals. After not placing, he decided to attend Stacy Dragila’s pole vault camp and was ready to continue training, but broke his pelvis in half after missing the pole vault pad during practice.
“It feels really good to come out of here with a win,” said Emmons. “I knew what I had to do the whole time.”
Brenton will compete at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the fall.
More than 2,100 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada and Australia to participate in the 38th annual Simplot Games.
