Pocatello, Idaho—Maya Malony, a senior from Boise, Idaho, placed first in the girls’ pole vault with a height of 12′ 5.5″ at the 2019 Simplot Games.
Facing the height in the finals was no problem for Malony. “I knew it was a height I could clear,” she said. “I just had to clear my mind and do it.”
That relaxation is something Malony attributes from training with Olympian Stacy Dragila, at the Dragila Vault Company in Boise, Idaho.
Mia Manson, a junior from Colorado, placed second with a height of 11′ 11.75″.
More than 2,100 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand to participate in the 41st annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R.
