Zach McWhorter from Springdale, Ark., Wins the Boys’ Pole Vault at the 2017 Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho – Zach McWhorter, a senior from Springdale, Ark., won the boys’ pole vault at the 2017 Simplot Games with a jump of 16’2.75”.
“It was awesome,” McWhorter said. “It was a really fast runway, and I had a great warmup.”
This was Zach’s first time at Simplot Games. He said he enjoyed the atmosphere and being able to jump in front of Olympic legends such as Steve Hooker.
More than 2,200 athletes came from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 39th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
