WYOMING DOMINATES GIRLS SHOT PUT EVENT AT 2023 SIMPLOT GAMES

Pocatello, Idaho –Wyoming earned almost every spot on the medal stand for the girls shot put event during the 43rd annual Simplot Games.

 Nora Butler led Wyoming athletes in the girls’ shot put, securing first place with a throw of 41’6.50.” Butler was awarded her first-place medal by two-time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Crouser, who had broken the world shot put record earlier that day during a professional shot put competition during the Games.

 Wyoming athletes placed in many events over the weekend and secured first place finishes in a total of five events, including:

 Boys’ 800 Meters

  • Girls’ 400 Meters
  • Girls’ 1600 Meters
  • Girls’ 4×800 Meters
  • Girl’s Shot Put

More than 2,000 athletes from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia are participating in the 43rd Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
