Utah Athletes Qualify at 2020 Simplot Games

 
Pocatello, Idaho – Utah athletes brought their game faces to the 2020 Simplot Games. After two days of intense competition, Utah athletes look to medal in multiple events.
Many Utah athletes have excelled at Simplot Games. Here is a list of few Utah athletes to watch for in the finals.

• Braiden Ivie, a senior from Lehi, placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.23, just shy of the first place position and the Simplot Games meet record of 21.41. He also placed second in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 6.96.
• Nathan Williams, a senior from Ogden, placed second in the boys 3200 meters with a time of 9.38.70, crushing his previous personal record of 9:50.90  that he recently set at the UHSTCA Indoor Invitational. He will run Saturday at 3:55 p.m.

• Jackson Adams, a senior from Springville, placed first in the boys’ 800-meter dash and set a new personal record with a time of 1.57.67.
• Utah athletes dominated in several events. Utah has 17 boys and 13 girls that will compete in the 1600-meter finals. Additionally, the finals in the girls’ 800 meters, boys’ 800 meters, and boys’ 3200 meters will each have 10 athletes competing from the Beehive State.

More than 2,000 athletes came from across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand to participate in the 42^nd annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
