Pocatello, Idaho – Talon Hull, a senior from Pleasant Grove, Utah, took the 2017 Simplot Games theme “where records are broken” seriously as he broke the meet record for the boys’ 1600 meters with the time 4:08:87.

“It’s surreal,” said Hull. “So many amazing people have ran here and I really don’t feel worthy to hold this record.”

This is Hull’s fourth appearance at Simplot Games. In addition to the legacy of athletes at Simplot Games, the experiences he has keeps him coming back each year.

“The atmosphere here pushes you to do things you didn’t know you could do,” said Hull.

More than 2,200 athletes came from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 39th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
