Pocatello, Idaho – Ryan Raff, a senior from Lehi, won the boys’ 3200-meter run with a time of 9:04.94 at the 2018 Simplot Games.

“When I run, I try and stay laser focused,” Raff said. “I think about how my body is feeling and how fast my laps are.”

Raff’s time (9:04.94) is the number one time in the United States 2018 high school indoor season. Raff has been attending the Simplot Games since he was a sophomore and this was the first year he ever made the finals.

“After two years of not making the finals it felt nice to stand at the top of the podium for my last year.”

After graduating, Raff will be attending Northern Arizona University on a track and field scholarship.

More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
