Robert Say, from Black Diamond, Wash., Wins Boys’ Triple Jump at 2018 Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho – Robert Say, a senior from Black Diamond, Wash., won the boys’ triple jump at the 2018 Simplot Games with the mark of 45’08”.

“I was having some crappy jumps at first and it was all in my head,” Say said. “But, my mom gave me a pep talk and I was able to pull out a win.”

This was Say’s first time competing at Simplot Games. He said it was overwhelming as this was bigger than any meet he’s competed in.

More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
