Renard Bell, of Los Angeles, Calif., Wins the Boys 200 Meters at 2016 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – Renard Bell, a senior from Los Angeles, Calif., won the boys 200-meter dash at the 2016 Simplot Games with a time of 21.93 seconds.
“I was really nervous at the beginning,” said Bell. “I started in lane five so I had to focus on running hard and not looking back.”
This is Bell’s second year at Simplot Games. His team, New Image Training Group, won both the 4×200 and 4×400 last year and the 4×200 this year.
“Simplot is always a great experience,” he said. “There is great competition and it is always fun. That’s really what it is all about.”
Bell has committed to run track and play football at Washington State University.
More than 2,100 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 38th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
