Northridge Knights from Layton, Utah, Win the Boys’ 4×800-Meter Relay at 2018 Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho – The Northridge Knights from Layton, Utah, won the boys’ 4×800-meter relay with a time of 8:13.29 in the 2018 Simplot Games.

Bridger Altice, senior, led the relay, followed by followed by Cade Koldewyn, senior, Anthony Jacobo, junior, and anchor Max Wehrli, junior.

“I was a little worried coming around the last corner that I was going to slip,” Wehrli said. “Thankfully, that didn’t happen and the win felt great.”

The three juniors on this team all plan to return to the Simplot Games next year, and Koldewyn, the lone senior, hopes to continue his track career at Utah State University after graduating.

The team said they like to keep the mindset of “fight to the finish” and that it is what helped them this weekend at the Simplot Games.

More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
