Laurel Kun of Oregon City, Oregon, Wins Girls’ Shot Put At 2019 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho—Laurel Kun, a senior from Oregon City, Oregon, placed first in the girls’ shot put at the 2019 Simplot Games with a distance of 40’2”.
Before her final throw, Kun had to overcome some mental hurdles, but she pulled through.
“I was relieved to get a good mark and to see the technique finally come together,” Kun said.
Kun will be throwing for the University of Pittsburg next year.
More than 2,100 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand to participate in the 41st annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
