Josephine Reeves from Hawera, New Zealand, Takes First in a Showdown for the Girls’ High Jump at the 2018 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – Josephine Reeves, a senior from Hawera, New Zealand, took first in the girls’ high jump at the 2018 Simplot Games with a mark of 5’11” after a showdown with Rylee Anderson, a senior from Longmont, Colo.
“I was just really happy because I knew I was on the podium,” Reeves said. “I’ve already gotten a personal record, but it would have been a bonus to get another.”
After both jumping 5’11”, Reeves and Anderson battled for the win, both attempting a mark of 6’01”, but neither were able to clear it.
After Simplot Games, Reeves plans to attend the New Zealand Nationals in a couple weeks and the Australian Junior Championships in March.
More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games.
