“This means so much to me,” said Lanier. “I was at Simplot Games last year and came in third so I’m excited to take it all this year. I have been focused on the finish line all day so when I crossed it I was ecstatic.”

Lanier’s 6.81 mark is a new personal best and ranks him sixth in the nation. Lanier plans to run in college but he is currently undecided.

More than 2,100 athletes have come from across the U.S., Canada, and Australia to participate in the 38th annual Simplot Games.
