Hicks makes personal best in final race at the Games

Pocatello, Idaho—Jada Hicks, a senior from Fullerton, Calif., won the girls’ 60-meter hurdles in her 2018 Simplot Games debut with a time of 8.44, a personal best.

“I felt really good coming in,” said Hicks. “I had really loose legs and was really warm. I didn’t feel nervous at all, I just felt normal.”

Prior to Simplot Games, Hicks’s best time was 8.7 seconds, and she was excited to break her personal record.

“I think it was a matter of getting a feel for the track,” said Hicks.

Hicks had never competed at Simplot Games before, and was impressed by the meet overall.

“I have never been to Simplot Games before, but I’ve always wanted to come here,” said Hicks. “It’s been great and I’m really excited to be here.”

More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games.
