Gold Medal Athletics from Provo, Utah, Places First in the Boys’ 1600 Sprint Medley Relay at the 2018 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – Gold Medal Athletics from Provo, Utah, placed first in the boys’ 1600 sprint medley relay at the 2018 Simplot Games with a time of 3:34.
The team consisted of Logan Orr, a senior who ran the 400-meter leg, Nathan Kaufusi, a junior who ran the first 200-meter leg, Braiden Ivie, a sophomore who ran the second 200-meter leg, and Brandon Williams who ran the 800-meter leg.
“As soon as I saw he [Orr] was in the lead, I knew we won,” Kaufusi said.
“We were pretty confident going into it, but obviously you never know what’s going to happen,” Orr added.
Though they have been practicing as a team, this was the first time Orr, Kaufusi, Williams, and Ivie practiced handing off to each other.
More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand to participate in the 40th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R.
