Ethan Peterson, of Farmington, Utah, Wins the Boys’ Freshman 1600 Meters at the 2019 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – Ethan Peterson, a freshman from Farmington, Utah, won the boys’ freshman 1600 meters at the 2019 Simplot Games with a time of 4:41.12.
“The race was tough, but it felt good,” Peterson said. “It was cool to have a race just for freshmen and it made us feel special.”
The freshman 1600 meters is a new event at Simplot Games this year. The event features the top eight freshmen who did not qualify for the finals in the 1600 meters.
More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 41st annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
