Campbell County High School Track Team, of Gillette, Wyo., Wins the Boys 4×400 Relay at 2016 Simplot Games
Pocatello, Idaho – The Campbell County High School Track Team, from Gillette, Wyo., won the boy’s 4×400-meter relay at the 2016 Simplot Games with a time of 3:24.63.
Josh Hughes, 12th grade, ran the first leg; Kenyan Nunez, 11, ran the second leg; Madden Pikula, 11, ran the third leg; and Logan Myers, 11 ran the anchor leg.
“We really had to work hard as a team for this one,” said Pikula. “Everyday in practice we have to push each other and it all paid off today.”
The race was tight at the end as their lead narrowed, but Myers knew what to do.
“With 100 meters left I looked up at the big board and saw the guy from Davis getting close,” said Myers. “I knew I needed to make up some ground.”
“We have a lot of respect for each other,” said Nunez. “We change roles in the race sometimes but we all know what we have to do.”
