Breakfast with Fosbury and Friends 2017

Kristin Armstrong is the special guest at this year’s Fosbury and Friends Breakfast

Pocatello, Idaho- Each year at Simplot Games there is a breakfast event put on with the chair of the Games, Dick Fosbury. Considered to be one of the most influential figures in track and field, Fosbury is a legend who created the “Fosbury Flop” technique for the high jump. He also took home the gold medal in the 1968 Olympics high jump. This year’s event will take place Friday, February 17, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. The event will be held in a new location this year at the Idaho State University Student Union in the 2nd floor Ballroom. The building is located at 921 S 8th Avenue in Pocatello. Tickets are $20 each or $160 for a table of 8.  Tax not included. To purchase tickets call (208) 235-5604 or purchase online at https://wordpress-674818-2304003.cloudwaysapps.com/shop/.
Each year for the event, Fosbury brings in an Olympic athlete to speak, and this year’s special guest speaker is Olympic Cyclist, Kristin Armstrong. In the Rio Olympics Armstrong became the most decorated women cyclist in US history after taking home yet another gold medal. She also won gold in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics in the cycling time-trails.
Prior to her cycling career Armstrong swam in the Junior Olympics at age 17. At that time she was attending high school in Japan. After high school she returned to the United States to attend the University of Idaho in Moscow and earned her undergraduate degree in Sports Science. She also competed as a triathlete in the 1999 IRONMAN world championship. In that same year Armstrong’s season was ended after being diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the hip and she was forced away from high-impact activities. She turned to cycling as a form of therapy for her diagnosis. That therapy would eventually turn into the cycling career she is now well known for today.
On top of all these athletic achievements Armstrong has won three World Titles and five national championships along with the three Olympic Gold medals. You will not want to miss the opportunity to come and hear Armstrong speak at this year’s Breakfast with Fosbury and Friends.
