Blazin’ Bruins ‘A’ from Long Beach, Calif., Wins the Girls’ 4×400 Meter Relay at the 2019 Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho– The Blazin’ Bruins ‘A’ from Long Beach, Calif., won the girls’ 4×400 meter relay at the 2019 Simplot Games with a time of 3:56.88.

Sophomore Maya Bryson started the relay for the team as the first leg, senior Dionna Griffith ran the second leg, junior Rachel Glenn ran the third leg, and sophomore Tyler Nettles was the anchor.

“We were all nervous for the race because we wanted to make our coaches happy,” Bryson said. “It was an overall great experience.”

This was the team’s first time competing at Simplot Games. The meet was also their first indoor track and field meet.

“We prepared by practicing every day and taking care of our bodies in the right ways,” Griffith said. “Running on a wooden track was different and it took a different type of mindset.”

More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to participate in the 41stannual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R.
