Utah Athletes Place in Finals at 2019 Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho – Utah athletes brought their game to the 2019 Simplot Games. After three days of intense competition, Utah athletes took home multiple medals.
Many Utah athletes excelled at Simplot Games. Here is a list of some of Utah’s top athletes.

  • Luke Grundvig, a senior from American Fork, placed first in the boys’ 3200 meters with a time of 9:07.76.
  • William Prettyman, a senior from West Valley, placed fourth in the boys’ 60-meter dash with a time of 6.88 seconds. He placed third in the boys’ long jump with a mark of 21’8.25.”
  • Ellie Lundgreen and Karli Branch, both seniors, placed in the girls’ 3200 meters. Lundgreen, who is from Kaysville, placed third, and Branch, who is from Draper, placed fifth. Both girls have signed with the University of Utah.
  • Utah athletes continued to dominate in distance events in the finals. Fourteen Utah athletes placed in the 1600 meters and seven placed in the 3200 meters.
  • Five Utah athletes who qualified for the freshman boys’ 1600 meters placed in the top six in the finals.

More than 2,200 athletes will come from across the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand to participate in the 41st  annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the Simplot Games are held at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho.
